Welp, if you've kept up, I'm the one whose father-in-law most thankfully bought his 2002 Savage. 'Finally got a seat in the safety course after waiting 2 months (a prerequisite for us military folks, before we can legally ride on base, where I live). 'Been through the boiling ASSphalt of a Texas summer, and now it's on to the sub freezing temps of winter. I have to wear thermal undies, my uniform, quilted coveralls, and a gortex rainsuit (let's not forget the hunter-orange safety vest that's required, too...yay) for the 4-mile trek to work. I can barely move when walking, but I stay warm on the bike, that's all that matters!
I've just passed the 1000 mile odometer reading, have only run out of gas once (Jon's voice recorder key chain idea still works great), have only been cut off / almost run over a handful of times, and there still isn't a scratch on the bike, thank goodness. Thanks for all of the suggestions, and discussions...makes me proud to be one of the gang!
Yes, Texas gets cold...and oh, look...more rain in the forecast! I was beginning to think the bike would stay clean for a week straight ~ silly me...
Have a good one!
